A Baby Zonkey Has Been Born!
Sometimes love knows no bounds, especially in the animal kingdom, and especially when those bounds consist of only a fence. Meet “Ippo”, a rare zonkey (the offspring of a male zebra and a female donkey) born after his father climbed a fence to mate with his mother. The young lady who has characteristics of both her mother and her father is the only one of her kind in Italy, and she’s so rare because her parents breeds are always kept seperate. With no “need” for zebroids (hybrid of zebras and other equine animals like horses and ponies), zebras are never cross-bread, so when it happens it’s only under the most special of circumstances. So now thanks to a poorly thought out fence and a zoo that loves its animals, the world has an adorable zonkey baby to enjoy. Unfortunately, Ippo will never be able to mate and have babies of her own, but with no health complications apparent in her, she should be around to make us smile for years to come. So enjoy some pictures of baby zonkeys doing what they do best: trotting around being adorable stripey scamps!
