Ducklings Will Follow Anyone!

There’s no doubt about it, ducklings are one of the cutest baby animals that exist in the entire world, and they’re also one of the most predictable. We say that because, without fail, ducklings will “imprint” on the first creature they see; it’s usually their mother, but it could be you if you happen to be there the first time a duckling opens its eyes. Ducklings, like many avian species, have evolved to consider the first creature they see to be their mother, and thus follow the creature around learning life and survival skills from the creature’s every move. This has led to ducklings following everything from a person to a dog. When the ducklings grow up, they will often leave their surrogate mother or even their real mother, but sometimes, the bond lasts forever.
