Dingo Babies – Nobody Gets Eaten!
Everyone has heard of a dingo – but have you ever laid eyes on a cute baby dingo? Ever knew exactly what a dingo was? Well – it’s basically a dog! Which means when it’s a baby, a dingo is basically an adorable wild puppy! That’s right, dingoes are wild, or feral – undomesticated Australian dogs that – in their territory – are the apex predator, meaning they have no natural predators themselves, yet have a variety of prey that they chase. So in the strictest sense, our title isn’t so much true as it is a joke, but luckily for these cute pups, as apex predators, they have nobody to stop them from growing up big and strong. But in the meantime, we get to enjoy a truly wild puppy tumbling around and playing in nature in a way that might make you wonder how your own domesticated puppy would fare out there. They may be just as cute as your beagle – but they’re a lot more wily and resourceful!
Dingoes can be very tame and live alongside humans as pets or work animals. However, Australians are divided as to whether or not the breed is controllable and safe to live as such. The dogs are smart and usually try to escape enclosures. They can also become very attached to their owners like many domestic dogs. Many people in Australia are also concerned about preserving the purity of the breed which is interbreeding with domestic dogs all over the continent. It can be difficult to tell dingoes in the wild are part mixed or pure since the wild dogs and domestic dogs have been interbreeding for years.
