Baby Aardvarks: Strange and Cute at the Same Time
Did you know that there are fewer than a dozen baby aardvarks born in zoos each year? With only around 35 or so aardvarks in North American zoos, it’s no wonder there aren’t more of the cute little guys. Yeah, the hairless, big-eared newborns may look a bit like aliens but you can’t call them ugly.
The name aardvark means digging, something these guys are known for when looking for food. Aardvarks are also called “anteaters” because they love to eat, well ants of course, but they also love termites too. The sub-Saharan of Africa is where aardvarks call their home. Aardvarks can live up to 24 years.
