Baby Hares are Leverets not Bunnies
As much as you would like to, you shouldn’t call baby hares “bunnies” or “bunny rabbits” because of course they have their own proper name which is “leveret”. The difference between rabbits and hares can be pretty subtle but categorizing and naming the animals of this earth is an enjoyable task for us humans, so that is what we do. One of the main differences between the two is that hares prefer to give birth in grassy nests while the rabbits prefer borrows underground for birthing. Hares are usually larger and have bigger hind legs for better jumping. They are more solitary than rabbits and have a slightly different diet.
Hares give birth to leverets usually two or three times a year. They are born with open eyes and quickly mature and go off on their own.
