Baby Silkie Chicks Are Covered in Fur!

Did you know there are different varieties of chickens? Most of the feathery clucking chickens you know and love starts life as a sweet little ball of yellow fluff called a chick.  But what you may not know is that a specific species of chicken called silkie chickens start life as an adorable fluffy ball of white fur. They look like they are wearing a nice comfortable snow suit, it’s almost too much fluffy white fur (especially when it is covering up their faces). Instead of growing feathers like normal chickens, these cute baby chickens grow up into big fluffy white versions of their baby selves!

Covered in a thin layer of “fur” these five-toed cuties are some of the most interesting little chicks there are. If you think these babies are totally cute, you’ll be pleased to know that silkies are not only adorable, but also renowned for having a very friendly temperament which makes them ideal pets. Very reliable and motherly creatures, they are family oriented and enjoy the company of other animals and people alike!
