Baby Wolverines Start Out Cute
Also known as a glutton, carcajou, skunk bear, or quickhatch; the wolverine is the largest member of the same family as weasels, although it resembles a small bear more than it does any member of its family. Wolverines are known for their immense strength and ferocity, making them one of the toughest creatures, pound for pound, in the world. However, just like everyone else, the wolverine starts off as a defenseless little baby, and an adorable one at that. Baby wolverines are known as ‘kits’, and are born in groups of two or three during the winter. They are born after a 2 month gestation period, and are usually kept inside a snowdrift or pile of rocks. They wean after about ten weeks, and usually stay in the protective care of their mothers until they are about two years old. Once they reach that age; they can protect themselves and reproduce, and go on to become one of the most impressive animals in the world.
