Chimp Monkeys Around With Tiger Cubs
Check out these pictures taken at TIGERs (The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species) in South Carolina, US. Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, that’s Anjana, a female chimp, helping zookeeper China York raise Mitra and Shiva, two white tiger cubs. The two baby big cats found themselves orphaned when their mother became aggressive towards them after a bout of inclement weather spooked her. So now it’s up to York, the main caretaker for infant animals at the institute, and her favorite hairy primate assistant to nurse the cubs through this crucial stage in their development. According to institute officials, Anjana is great at her job; she feeds the cubs bottles, plays with them, cuddles them, and does pretty much everything their real mother would have done. They also say that she loves her job and seems to have developed a true maternal attachment to her adopted felines. The three of them make quite a little family unit, and show us that no difference are too big to overcome with care and compassion.
