Francois’ Langur – Funny Name, Cute Monkey
Look at that monkey. Now look at your pet, now back at the monkey – let’s not turn this into an Old Spice commercial, but isn’t that monkey the pet you wish your pet could look like? So adorable! A species hailing from a small range in southeast Asia and specifically China, this langur when all grown up is all black – but when they are cute babies, these monkeys are a brilliant shade of orange-red. Growing up and changing colors isn’t so bad for them though because they also grow nice white sideburns and a mohawk.
These adorable little primates are an endangered species due to habitat destruction in their very small natural range, but they can still be seen in captivity in zoos all over the world as the conservationist effort to protect this delicate species has been critical in preserving their dwindling numbers. Francois langurs are cave dwelling primates that make their homes in lush rain forests where they use natural cave outcroppings as protection from weather and predators alike. Luckily for us, cameras have gotten into their habitats and into zoos where these cute baby monkeys live so we can see them in all of their cute fuzzy glory!
