New Orphan Walrus Calf Moves to New York
Have a look at this video of an orphaned walrus that has become accustomed to his new home at the New York Aquarium. “Mitik” was discovered off the coast of Alaska struggling to survive without any relations in sight. The US Department Fish and Wildlife Service found an available opening at the aquarium in New York. Although still a bit sickly, he is calm and apparently happy so we will hope for a full recovery very soon. However young and having perhaps had a rather traumatic youth, the walrus calf is a bit chubby, already weighing 234 pounds, even though he still eats only from a bottle and has yet to be weaned from milk. Fairly soon though he will be swallowing great quantities of raw fish. You can already see signs of his walrus mustache. Watch as he has a little swim, drinks some nice milk and then goes for a nap.
