News Alert: New Panda in San Diego Zoo
Anyone who knows and loves baby animals knows the challenges facing one of the cutest and most amazing species on earth: the giant panda. While they are endangered, immense conservationist efforts have been ongoing around the world to attempt to counter-act the diminishing numbers of pandas world wide. Even in captivity, breeding is slow and animal lovers world wide look on in frustration as the population continues its slow ascent. Luckily for us, a new baby panda was just born this week at the San Diego Zoo!
Bai Yun, a 20 year old who will turn 21 this September has given birth to a new happy and healthy cub. While details are still scarce, it is confirmed that Bai Yun is one of the oldest pandas ever to give birth in captivity, having also birthed cubs before five times, her first being in 1999.
