They May Stink, But Baby Skunks Are Still Cute
Here’s something we never thought we’d say: look how cute those skunks are! We know what you’re think, “Skunks are gross rodents! They spray people with their stink!”; well you’re not totally correct, they only spray when extremely threatened or injured, and they’re mammals, and they’re super cute when they’re babies (kits). Skunks are also extremely intelligent creatures, and do to a surgical procedure that removes their scent producing glands, they are slowly gaining popularity as a domestic house-pet. Kits are born in litters of four to seven after a gestation period of about 66 days; they’re blind, deaf, and covered in a soft layer of fur for the first few weeks of life. They’re weaned at around two months, but don’t leave their den until they’re about a year old.
