Tigon Cubs!
Over 205 days and counting, that’s how long these miracle Tigon cubs from Changzhou, China have been alive, and it’s now over 100 days longer than any other Tigons in China’s history. Tigons, the famed and ultra-rare offspring of a male Tiger and a female Lion are often subject to a variety of birth defects and cancers because of their crossbred genetics. However, a pair of cubs born in Australia have been able to live healthily for the last 16 years thanks to careful care and some good luck; officials in China hope they have a case like that on their hands. The cubs had lost a sibling shortly after birth and were expected to follow suit and perish soon after, so when officials released them into their parents care, they did so hoping they’d enjoy their last few weeks with their family. Thankfully, these little adorable Tigons have just kept on keeping on, and are healthier than ever. We’re thankful that we get to witness these little guys persevering, and hope to bring you more good news on them soon.
