So ZooFans, how are you liking our series on hard working dogs? Police dogs!
Bred for their obedience, intelligence, strength and speed German Shepherds are the ideal choice for a K-9 unit. These dogs are used in every line of police work from detection of contraband (drugs and weapons) to making arrests! From the time they are adorable puppies, these elite dogs are trained to attack, bite and chase – but only on command. Though they can appear frightening, these dogs won’t attack just anyone, they have a very special relationship with their partner – an officer trained in handling police dogs.
